Description
Roan is a Siren who lives in the Coral Sea. He tends to spend is time in deep waters with his friend Gwen. They like to explore shipwrecks and caves together and look for special treasures in the deep ocean. He occasionally goes on land to visit some of his land friends like Kalma but doesn’t too often. Despite being a Siren, Roan can't sing. Well, can't sing well. This is one of the reasons he doesn't spend too much time with other Sirens.
Backstory
Roan grew up in an area around Atlanta. He’s a single child and usually spent time with other merfolk and sirens but had to leave for some reason. His parents disappeared after he left Atlanta and he has never been able to find them since then. Inused to spend his time with his squad, 2 other Sirens named Sabrina and Otis. Buuuut, they were assholes. Despite being a Siren, Roan is like, really bad at singing. Sabrina and Otis disliked Roan because of this, thinking he was more of a hindrance than a help. So Roan decided to ditch them and try and make connections with other ocean dwellers. He met a few, but he was always the closest with Gwen.
Design Details
- due to being a siren, his voice contains a substantial amount of magic that makes up a lot of his energy (this will be important detail later)
- Losing a substantial amount of his magical makeup would cause Vick to become extremely tired and weak, possibly even causing him to pass out. (ALSO significant if you get my drift).
- Although it sounds generally normal, it has a slightly luring effect on anyone who hears it
- He tends to be very smug about things and pretends like he’s good at everything
- He is very forward; if he likes you, he’ll tell you, if he wants a kiss, he will ask for one (or just kiss you lol).
- So this is kinda important. So unlike merfolk who usually flip their tails up and down to swim, Roan flips it left and right, similar to how swordfish swim (this is evident by his tailfins' orientation)
- His eyes can also do that thing where they make a sorta swirly shape that when other creatures stare into his eyes will have a hypnotic effect on them (this is NOT a natural ability and is a power granted to him by a certain somebody)
- Vick has blue blood like many aquatic creatures, allowing him to stay warmer in water.
- Vick has gills meaning he can breath underwater. He can also breath out of water too but for a certain period of time (2-3 hours max)
- Vick is very susceptible to being cursed, hypnotized, tranced, or seduced due to his personality. He is an idiot a lot of the time.
- He is 18 years old
- 5’4” at full height
- Roan's ears can frill or unfril depending on circumstances (Ex. If he is angry he might frill them)
- He has an enchanted armband that has the ability to protect him from curses and other magic cast on him. It only has effects on him if he wears it in his hair or on some part of his body. The origins of this armband and it's enchanter are unknown (Its not Azul FYI).
Like all sirens, when he speaks underwater his voice has an almost echoy quality to it.
He has 4 fingers with claws on the ends
In his land form, he bascially looks the same aside from having legs and his eyes being normal and not inverted.
Triva
Roan learned to play a collecton of wind instruments to make up for not being good at singing
Roan can make animal noises (hissing, meowing, roaring)
Roan made a deal with Azul but wrote a few more conditions on the back of the scroll (sneaky sneaky)
Roan is only willing to sing if it is an emergency (you'll understand later)
Roan's love language includes: Exescive flirting, compliments, dancing, making out, sappy romantic moments, affectionate harassment
So Roan was an OC that I made when I was in my "I'm obsessing over this character but know nothing about them or their story or game" phase so I didn't realize that like for example, Roan canonically knows nothing about magic but you need to know something about it to attend Nightraven College (Also that that is basically the story of the main protag in the actual game) Also before I knew Azul's whole tragic backstory I made Roan's which is suspiciously similar to Azul's (Like, as in, Roan was also an outcast among his kinda and whatnot). Just sorta something you should know.
